If you have acknowledged that you may need help with an addiction problem of your own, we want to be the first to help.

It is important to understand that in order to successfully recover from your addiction, you will need the assistant of a professional addiction treatment center. These treatment centers have programs from dual diagnosis to a monitored drug detox clinic and advanced therapy. It is rare to find a drug rehab center that offers the level of support that you will need to reach sobriety but we are here to give you information to better understand the recovery process.

Understand the Treatment Process

An effective program begins with a monitored detox. Supervised detox means that clients are monitored for withdrawal symptoms that may otherwise be uncomfortable, painful, or dangerous. Your body doesn’t want to stop using drugs once it becomes dependent, and it may physically rebel once the toxins stop being a part of its system.

The result can be difficult for individuals, but with a monitored detox program, clients and their families are in the best hands. Around the clock care is available to every client, and this lasts as long as is necessary for the client to be safely and comfortably sober.

Once detox is complete, a comprehensive mental health assessment is needed to properly assess what next steps you need in your recovery program. The mental health assessment helps caregivers offer the best help during rehabilitation. If a mental health problem co-occurs alongside an addiction, there are addiction recovery programs that can treat that issue too. This is a process that is known as dual diagnosis.

In therapy, it is important start with substance abuse education for each individual. This approach to substance abuse treatment is to put the emphasis on the individual. One on one sessions with highly skilled and trained therapists is where a core section of progress takes place in recovery.

Clients are encouraged to speak frankly. These sessions take place on a regular basis, and they may be led by ideas from the counselor or by the thoughts and feelings that the client is having. It is important that the relationship between the client and the counselor is a strong one and that clients feel comfortable in sharing their experience with addiction and substance abuse.

Group therapy is integrated in key ways, and is not just a matter of getting groups together for therapy sessions. Counselors ask questions to get the ball rolling. From there, peers can explore these prompts by asking each other questions, offering advice and support and revisiting socialization skills, which are vital to progress in recovery.

Often, group members may hear another’s story and see themselves in that person. This is a great way for individuals to find the foundations of a sober support group. Clients are able to see that they are not isolated and alone and that there is a community of people rooting for their success.

Each client will benefit from aftercare programs offered by many facilities. We encourage clients to take advantage of these programs as relapse is most likely in the first few weeks and months that clients leave the facility.

Aftercare programs may involve classes in continued responsibility and life skills, elective random drug testing or sober living options. Clients will work with their counselors to discuss these options in detail.
